Meet Dr. Jessica Gowing, MD

Dr. Jessica Gowing is a board-certified colon and rectal surgeon, specializing in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery. Dr. Gowing’s goal and passion is to provide her patients with top-quality care while building a relationship of trust and comfort with each one of her patients.

Dr. Jessica Gowing was born in Virginia, but as the daughter of a Navy pilot, Dr. Gowing traveled throughout the United States until she moved to Washington, where her family still lives currently. Dr. Gowing attended the University of Washington in Seattle for both medical school and her undergraduate education, where she graduated with honors in neurobiology and bioethics in addition to studying Japanese. Before returning to UW for medical school, she worked at a global health research institute in Seattle, which focused on research, education, and training. Additionally, she lived in Japan for a year to immerse herself in the Japanese culture, practice the language, and teach English. Dr. Gowing completed her general surgery residency at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan then went on to complete her colon and rectal surgery fellowship at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, Washington.

During her childhood, Dr. Growing fondly remembers how she and her family would embark on their annual summer trips back to Minnesota to spend time with her large extended family. Today, she continues this tradition of traveling with her husband and three children. Dr. Gowing enjoys family trips in her time off and maintains close ties with her family across the US. Now in Denver, Dr. Gowing has found the perfect place to pursue her love of medicine, family, food, and all the natural wonders of Colorado’s outdoors.
